Friends and connections
Friends in Mind are people you save ideas for before connecting. Adding one sends nothing. Their intentions remain yours alone until a connection is completed.
Connected friends see all retained explicit likes for them, earlier and future. Your other likes stay private. The connection flow explains this and offers an optional review with every retained idea included by default. Review changes apply only when the containing action completes; Cancel changes nothing.
Connect with one person or a few friends
Use Friends → Connect a friend to make an individual or shared link. Recipient contact details are not required in advance. People sign in, identify themselves when appropriate and accept. A shared link also connects each acceptor with other accepting participants during its window, including unlisted arrivals. This does not expand like audiences or create a permanent group.
Copying a link makes it ready to send. It does not send a message. Arrival notices in Domino name the newly connected people. The creator can close an open invitation early; connections already made remain.
Existing SMS QR invitations still explain the friendship effect before a first-name reply connects. Reply REVIEW for an optional authenticated review. An old prompt is refreshed before connecting under the new likes rules. A previously disconnected pair must use an individual Reconnect action.
Disconnect and reconnect
Choose the person’s action menu and Disconnect. Both connection directions are removed; each person becomes a Friend in Mind for the other. Intentions, saved ideas and account links remain, but each stops seeing the other’s likes. Friends shows Disconnected · Reconnect.
The optional Also remove [person] from the N ideas you liked for them checkbox affects only your own intentions. Removing a person deletes their singleton and any two-person intention containing them; larger sets shrink and identical survivors merge. It never invents a new one-on-one intention from a joint pair. Saved ideas and unrelated intentions remain.
Reconnect requires a fresh explicit individual action. It uses the ordinary connection review, with retained ideas included by default. Old links, repeat acceptance, assistant actions and RSVP helpers cannot silently reconnect you. A plan RSVP still works; existing plans and invitations follow their usual lifecycle.
Manage your people
Use Search friends to find a person. Add someone creates a private Friend in Mind and sends nothing. The person’s action menu retains rename and delete controls. Renaming changes your planning reference, not their account profile. Deleting a person is broader than removing them from one idea; use For… for intention changes or Disconnect for a current friendship.
For an in-person handoff, Connect a friend → Connect in person with a QR code retains the existing SMS flow. Do not confuse copying the prefilled SMS action with sending it.
Calendar availability permissions
Connection and calendar availability are separate. A person can be connected without sharing availability for a specific request. When Domino exposes an availability permission control, use the currently displayed state and explain its direction:
- enabling it permits the supported Domino availability experience;
- disabling it does not disconnect the friendship;
- “not shared” does not mean the friend has no calendar;
- Domino uses free/busy information rather than exposing event titles through ordinary availability guidance.
Do not invent an availability toggle if the user's current Friends screen does not display one. Route calendar connection management to Profile → Availability.
LLM answering guidance
Use Connected only for a current reciprocal connection, never just a linked account. Read current audiences before describing visibility. Private likes never complete a mutual match. Calendar permissions, likes, invitations and connection links have distinct effects. Do not disclose private calendar information or claim delivery from link creation.
