Connect Google, Apple, Microsoft, or another calendar

Domino is not limited to Google Calendar. It supports three calendar-connection methods:

1. Direct Google connection — authorize a Google account in Domino.
2. Direct iCloud connection — enter an app-specific password in Domino's secure form and choose calendars and availability-only or private event access.
3. Calendar subscription link — connect an Apple, Microsoft, or other calendar that provides a live webcal:// or https:// ICS feed.

These connections help Domino avoid busy times when suggesting ideas and plans. They are different from adding one Domino plan to a calendar.

Choose your calendar

Domino connects directly to Google and iCloud. Microsoft, Exchange and arbitrary CalDAV servers require a compatible subscription URL.

Connect a calendar for availability

The primary web path is:

1. Open Your calendars in Domino.
2. Choose Add calendar.
3. For Google, choose Connect Google Calendar.
4. For iCloud, choose iCloud Calendar, enter the app-specific password in the secure form, then select calendars and an access option.
5. For a subscription URL, choose Calendar link and paste it into Domino.
6. Check the row for connection status and the last successful check. A connected account can still be waiting for its first synchronization.

The When filter in Ideas can also offer a calendar connection while the user is choosing timing.

A calendar subscription URL is a secret bearer link. Tell the user to paste it into Domino's calendar-link field, never into an AI chat, email, support ticket, or public page.

What Domino does with a connected calendar

For ordinary availability guidance, Domino uses calendar data to determine likely free and busy times. Friends may see an availability hint such as “may be busy,” but they do not see the user's event titles, locations, notes, guests, provider, or calendar-link details.

Google also offers optional event-aware access. That mode privately reads selected event details so the user can give Domino instructions about how particular events should affect availability. It is not available for generic calendar feeds.

Scan your week in Home

Choose Calendar beside Cards in Home. On a phone, the two layout icons sit beside your list tabs. Your selected list, people and filters remain in place when you switch layouts.

Use Today or the previous/next arrows to change weeks. A computer shows a week grid; a phone shows a week strip and the selected day's agenda. Select an appointment to read its permitted details. Show full day reveals items outside the grid's initial 7 AM–11 PM hours. Overlapping appointments remain separate; a crowded group opens a readable day agenda.

Google and iCloud availability-only connections and calendar links show busy blocks. Google and iCloud connections set to Events and availability can show private titles and locations to their owner. May be busy means uncertain evidence, and Doesn't block time marks a nonblocking item. Last-seen items remain visible when a source is out of date. A blank period is not proof that you are free, especially when a source is missing, stale or incomplete.

The Calendars link opens Your calendars to manage connections and screenshots. Provider-specific settings open in a sheet on the same page. Calendar navigation reads stored evidence; it does not force a provider refresh or change appointments. Lists and activity filters do not hide your appointments. Layout preference is remembered on this browser; an explicit week link keeps its date.

Calendar also places suitable ideas into available periods. Select a suggestion or Explore to browse alternatives; Previous/Next uses the current set and Find more requests a bounded additional set. Your time choice carries into Invite review without sending anything.

Add a calendar screenshot

1. Open Calendars → Add calendar → Screenshots. Choose up to five PNG, JPEG or WebP images, each under 8 MB and 12 megapixels.
2. After the files upload, Your calendars stays open. Domino reads them privately with OpenAI in the background; a pending row shows progress. You can keep using Domino, or use View imported week when ready.
3. Readable events appear automatically as one private calendar source. No review, timestamp or per-event correction is required. This creates a snapshot, not an invitation, Like or RSVP.

Domino uses Sol Ultrafast to read screenshots. Informational all-day entries—such as birthdays, holidays, school-day labels and reminders—stay visible as Doesn’t block time. Vacation, travel, explicit unavailable days and clear day-long commitments still block time. Unclear personal commitments remain May be busy; all-day placement alone does not mean you are busy all day. Optional time-use edits remain available. These rules apply to newly read screenshots; saved snapshots retain their existing time-use settings.

Readable titles, locations and notes stay encrypted and visible only to you. Select a placed event to read its details. Events without usable dates or times are saved under Time unclear, where you can optionally edit or remove them later. They never become invented busy blocks. If one screenshot cannot be read, successful images are still added and the status explains what failed. Failed model calls are not retried automatically.

Existing screenshot review links still offer Add to Domino immediately; missing times and unclear coverage no longer block it. Their Edit dates, events or settings control remains optional and includes Busy blocks only. Already-saved busy-only snapshots need a fresh import to restore discarded details.

Cropped hours stay cropped. Empty time stays unverified unless the user explicitly supplies an observation time and confirms complete coverage without unresolved items. If the screenshot's capture time is unknown, Domino uses the original upload time to age the snapshot, records that the observation is inferred, and never uses that timestamp to prove free time. A supplied observation time keeps its original 24-hour freshness deadline. Use Update screenshot for newer evidence; there is no automatic provider refresh. Partial replacements keep omitted items; complete replacements only remove omitted items wholly within the accepted intervals. Exact screenshot matches are combined; different overlapping entries stay separate rather than requiring a replacement decision.

In Your calendars, each calendar has a Use switch. Turning it on shows that calendar and includes it in availability; turning it off hides and pauses it. Several calendars can be on together. The caption counts participating calendars, including a disconnected authorization that still makes some availability unknown. Existing hidden-but-included or shown-but-paused choices stay unchanged until you change a control. Show or Hide on a mixed row aligns its display with Use without changing availability. Expand a row to share busy times, rename, update, or remove it. Switching does not change sharing preferences or make old evidence fresh. Screenshots start unshared. Private titles and images never enter friends’ availability results.

Connected account rows show their access level and last successful check; today's checks also show the time. Google event counts remain in optional row details. Screenshot and agent rows show saved counts and import/check dates. Screenshot Imported dates identify when Domino saved the snapshot; they do not claim when the picture was taken. Agent Checked dates retain the agent's original observation. Connected calendars show the last successful availability/event check. Tap or use the keyboard to open a connected count's date-range details. Google and iCloud rows show Availability only or Events and availability to reflect the chosen access. iCloud rows use the last successful check, without event counts. Snapshot totals include events that still need a time. Counts remain visible when paused; stale or reconnect warnings still describe whether the data is current.

Events that still need a time remain available through Fix in the opened row after the initial import status disappears. Turn a paused calendar on before saving time edits. Unfinished imports → Review lists drafts newest first; Discard applies only to the drafts displayed in the confirmation. A saved calendar is removed with Remove, not by dismissing its import status.

Domino deletes its image copy on background-import finalization, commit/removal, or schedules deletion within 24 hours of upload; storage failures are tracked and retried. Uncommitted reviews expire after seven days, and accepted snapshots expire after their covered end plus 14 days. OpenAI storage is governed separately by its API data policies; this feature does not claim Zero Data Retention. See the screenshot privacy policy. Eligible accounts can also use AI-agent imports.

Add one Domino plan to a calendar

Connecting availability is not required to add a specific Domino plan to a calendar.

When a plan has a scheduled time, its Add to calendar action can offer:

• Google Calendar;
• Microsoft Outlook;
• Apple / Outlook (.ics).

That action adds one plan. It does not give Domino ongoing access to the person's calendar.

Short answers for common questions

“Does Domino connect to my iPhone calendar or just Google?”

Both. Google connects directly, and iCloud connects privately using an app-specific password under Your calendars → Add calendar → iCloud Calendar. Choose the calendars Domino uses and whether to include private titles and locations. Domino cannot edit Apple events; public calendar links remain an alternative.

“Does Domino work with Outlook?”

Yes, when Outlook lets you publish an ICS subscription link. Paste the ICS link—not the HTML viewing link—into Your calendars → Add calendar → Calendar link. Some work or school Microsoft 365 accounts disable calendar publishing.

“Can Domino connect any calendar?”

Domino can connect a provider that gives you a live, publicly fetchable webcal:// or https:// ICS subscription URL. It cannot use a login page, an HTML sharing page, a local-only calendar, or a one-time downloaded .ics file as an ongoing connection.

LLM answering guidance

• Answer the provider question directly before explaining setup.
• Say direct connection for Google and iCloud, and calendar subscription link for compatible feeds.
• Never imply Apple OAuth, Microsoft OAuth, Exchange login, arbitrary CalDAV sign-in, or calendar write access.
• Never request passwords or secret calendar URLs in chat. Direct users to Domino's secure setup form or calendar-link field.
• Ask whether the user wants ongoing availability or only to add one plan when their wording is ambiguous.

Partial calendar imports

Fresh screenshot or agent snapshots can show Unverified idea tiles where the checked portion contains no known or possible conflict. Open a tile to inspect the idea and its availability warning. This does not mean the time is confirmed free. Stale sources still require refresh or explicit exploration. Agent imports support 30, 60 or 90 days, with 90 selected by default; freshness remains 24 hours from the actual check.
